Vent-Stream Air Chiller
Air chiller conveyor systems in poultry processing facilities can be several kilometres long and have several AC drives. A standard system – usually operating on an open loop control – relies on chain tensioners and slip within the drives to maintain control. As the chillers become more extensive, with more drive units, controlling the tension becomes more difficult; usually, the overall line tension needs to be increased to ensure reliable operation. However, as expanding the line tension causes premature wear on the chain and the conveyor parts, it is essential to have the drives and tension units correctly positioned and controlled. The idea is to keep line tension to a minimum whilst maintaining a reliable operation.
